Start Description:

The congregation whispers as it waits, and the echoes are like wings in a high place, like tree-branches in the wind. The deacon and the sacristan watch me as I take my place. There is something in their eyes I didn't quite expect. Is it... pride?
Дожидаясь начала, моя паства перешёптывается, и отзвуки слов подобны крыльям где-то на вышине, колышущимся на ветру ветвям. Я поднимаюсь на кафедру, и дьякон с ризничим провожают меня взглядами. В их лицах я различаю нечто неожиданное... гордость?
会众边等待边窃窃私语，回声仿佛翅膀在高处拍打，树枝在风中摇摆。教堂的执事和司事目送着我就位。他们的眼中有种我未曾料到的东西。那是……骄傲吗？

Description:

My heart is the crossroads of my blood. My tongue is a sharpened flame. I see shapes in the stained glass that are not always there. A grey mare; a sundered tree; a twinned serpent. When I've finished, the congregation is on their feet, stamping and hooting, and their eyes, their mouths, are doors. The sacristan takes my hand in his withered own, before the whole church. There are tears in his eyes. 'We've waited so long', he whispers.
Моё сердце есть перекрёсток моей крови. Мой язык есть заострённое пламя. Порой я вижу в витражах то, чего нет. Серая кобыла; расколотое дерево; двухголовая змея. Я заканчиваю проповедь, и мои слушатели встают, топая ногами и неодобрительно покрикивая, но их глаза, их рты стали дверьми. На глазах у всей церкви ризничий берёт меня за руку своими иссохшими ладонями. В его глазах стоят слёзы. «Мы так долго ждали», — шепчет он.
